Taveuni, also known as ‘The Garden Island,’ is an abundance of tropical plants and flowers, with world class dive sites right on the doorstep. With stunning natural beauty, both under and above the sea, makes it a haven for divers, hikers and nature lovers alike.

Taveuni is easily accessible and rather compact and yet without a particular area singled out as the main tourist destination, it is far from feeling overrun. The locals and residents on the island refer to Taveuni as ‘the real Fiji.’

At 42 km in length and approximately 10km wide, Taveuni is the third largest island in the Fiji group. The island is home to 28 extinct volcanoes and this is evident from the black sand beaches and lava rock coastlines. For white sand lovers, however, there is the Matei beach that is perfect for snorkeling and swimming. The offshore islands around Taveuni host stunning white sandy beaches and the southern west of Taveuni has deep water close to shore. The eastern side of the island has dramatic waterfalls and the southern coastlines have dramatic caves and blowholes, all this including some of the most amazing dive sites in the world, making this the perfect diving destination in the world. If you are a diver, scuba diving in Fiji is the right decision for you.

The flights between Taveuni and the mainland, 90 minutes from Nadi or 50 minutes from Suva, are stunning giving you a chance to experience the gemstone coloured reefs from above. An overnight Ferry service is available for travel to Taveuni from Suva 3 times weekly. It’s a long but fun and exciting 16 hours travel from Suva to Taveuni so you want to get a cabin along the way or rent a traveling van.

Taveuni’s Matei airport is on the northern tip of the island and the main road, a combination of tar-sealed and regularly graded dirt roads, hugs its scenic coast and runs from the National Heritage Park in the east to Paradise Taveuni Resort and remote villages in the south.

There’s a lot of option to get around the island; you can’t go wrong when you travel via taxi or bus. Most resorts provide airport transfers in private air-conditioned vehicles and tours to the popular areas such as Bouma Waterfalls and Lavena to enjoy the coastal walk, the Inernational Dateline, Wairiki Catholic Mission, Des Voeux Peak and the Waitavala Water Slide.

There is a selection of places to stay in Taveuni to suit all budgets, providing you different options for Taveuni Accommodation deals. Paradise Taveuni is a mid-priced boutique Resort located in southern Taveuni. Catering to all travelers, the resort has a strong emphasis on the Fijian culture. Guests stay in traditional Fijian Bures (with all the modern fittings on the inside) lacking in phones, TV and clocks to ensure you are truly relaxed. The menu is a mixture of local and international produce with Fiji Night offering an authentic Lovo followed by a Meke performance (dancing) and Kava ceremony with the staff and local villagers. Diving is on offer at the Resort as well as a multitude of adventures and activities from horse riding, guided tours, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming in the new horizon edge swimming pool, cultural walks and hiking tours as well as a day spa to relax and rejuvenate. If you are looking for a real Fijian experience with luxurious touches at an affordable price, consider Paradise Taveuni for your next secluded and remote getaway.

Scuba diving is a fabulous hobby. It is fun, relaxing and very educational. Scuba diving offers people the opportunity to see what life is like below the water in lakes, and oceans. Scuba is an acronym that stands for self contained underwater breathing apparatus .

Scuba diving is practiced as a recreational sport as well as a means of conducting military and scientific research. In many countries like Thailand, Egypt, and Australia, scuba diving is one of the most popular activities to practice during the summer months. The reason is pretty clear: Scuba diving is becoming more and more popular because people are realising just how fun and easy it really is.

Scuba diving can also offer many different new experiences according to the place in which you practice it. But, not all places offer the best under water sight than the waters of Australia; it’s really a must see for beginners. Scuba diving is one of the best sports and past times you can do, so learn more and join us in a whole new under water world. Scuba diving can also be a very relaxing sport and in many places it’s very beginner friendly. Many dive sites are accessible (under the care of an instructor) after a short briefing and training dive. If you are considering scuba diving in Australia, my advise to you as a Scuba Diving Instructor is to try scuba diving in Sydney. For sure the Australian capital is one of the best hidden secrets of the scuba diving community from down under.

When you consider diving in this amazing location of the word, divers have the opportunity to swim with amberjack, tuna, blue gropppers, as tropical including butterfly fish, queen angelfish and a variety of damsels, chromis and blennies. So if you are considering to travel around the world and want to have some serious and great diving, checking Sydney must be in your top list of things to do.
