Jean-Elizabeth asked: Me and my fella are heading off to see a few places in the world. We will be gone probably a maximum of three months visiting Australia, New Zealand, Tokyo and probably America. We have friends and family in Australia and NZ so accommodation there won’t be such a problem and have found decent flights as well. Has anyone done a similar trip and how much did you spend. I’m thinking about £2,000 – £3,000 – is that enough?

abigbrightshiningstar asked: Sorry if it sounds daft but I am new to all this technology stuff.
I am going backpacking around Australia for a few months and will just be living in a van and tent so won’t have access to a plug or a laptop or anything.
How would I keep my Ipod and mobile phone charged in this situation?
I don’t understand Geoge, to listen to music maybe?!?!?

Film Forever asked: Please if anyone could give me a rough estimation in British Pounds of how much money I would need backpacking around Mexico (accommodation and spending money)
I am starting off in Mexico City and ending in Cancun, although I’d like to avoid the extreme touristy places. Obviously I know this will depend on whether I stay in posh hotels or hostels but just a rough guess to how much mixing the two.
I am going Jan/Feb.
Thank you very much!!

alice K asked: Mostly a question for people in Ireland.
I am intending on taking a long backpacking trip which obviously will require money. Does anyone know how I can safely do this without incurring astronomical bank charges eg when withdrawing from an atm

Holiday scams come in all shapes and sizes. Dependant upon the country you are visiting, there is a tendency for a popular type of scam or con to be characteristic or in vogue in your destination. Watch out for those scam artists by reading all about the Foreign Office’s ‘Know before you go’ campaign otherwise you could end up being a victim yourself.
According to the article “How to beat the holiday fraudsters!” there are the scratch cards on the continent, ketchup in Argentina and drugging going on in Thailand. Overall the word is to exercise care and attention to all strangers. While it is one of the best things about travelling, talking to strangers should be done with care and consideration. Not everyone is a con artist of course, but they do exist out there.
Top tips include asking hotel employees where to avoid in the town you are staying and always exercise care when travelling in a strange town or city at night. Most of all be wary of people who seem overly friendly they could be being nice for a not so nice reason!
