Abby asked: Also, are there orthodontists over there? I know that you don’t think of teeth as something cosmetic, so you don’t emphisis on their perfection like America does. However, do you still have them for people with teeth that are extremely bad?
Also, would a UK size 8 be considered Small, Medium, or Large? Is there a certain size that men prefer in England? (Like how the American media likes size US 0, but the men usually prefer US 6-14.)
And I’m not knocking you for bad teeth with the orthodontist question, you should see mine! (Despite that I have braces.)
Thanks! =]
Also, is there a lot of crime in London, or is it the same for any major city?

megauld asked: I’m planning on backpacking in the UK for 2-3 weeks in summer 2007. I’m wondering how much money I should plan to have stockpiled before I go, and how much I may need while traveling.

Have we forgotten the ancient art of holidaying at home? Suddenly we are in a predicament where we find that taking a holiday at home is the sensible thing to do. People are talking about walking down memory lane and see their summer holiday as holding many a forgotten treasure. But have we forgotten how to best holiday at home?
When you go abroad we know that we will need travel insurance and that medical cover is essential too. Why should it be any different at home? We will still need travel insurance, car insurance, in some cases, medical insurance and of course possessions insurance.
According to the article “Top tips for this years UK holidaymakers!” there is currently a trend in the holiday market of British people booking their holidays at home rather than abroad. Thanks to the low pound and swine flu, for some reason, people are not too keen on holidaying abroad! But lets not be casual about the whole thing. If we choose to holiday to home, we need to think carefully and responsibly about our insurance cover.

AshJ asked: Hi There,
I’m a 22 yr old girl from Sydney, Aus planning a move to Scotland. I’ve been researching a lot (these forums are great!) and have narrowed it down to either Glasgow or Edinburgh. I haven’t visited either place for many years so I’d love some advice about which city might be best. I’m half-way through a journalism degree (by distance), and the most important factors are affordability; employment opportunities, and especially a friendly social scene.
Thanks so much for your help,
Ash.
Thanks for the answers so far – the reason I’m moving believe it or not, is mostly because of the weather! I **** that we have summer almost all-year round, and I’ve been blessed (thanks to my British-born parents) with skin that will glow red after 5 minutes in the sun! I’ve been to the UK a couple of times as a tourist and I love history and culture and yes, I love the weather. I don’t have any big expectations but I thought why not, I’ll give it a go – I’ve got nothing to lose (not even a tan!).
