as much as you can spare, being the euro if you have change just keep it for your next trip

everything is expensive. But you can get around town fairly cheap by buying a subway pass. And just walk everywhere from there.
Everything in Europe is expensive…Try to keep as many pounds/dollars, etc. as you can! Spend your money wisely, too! Congratulations on your trip and have a great trip!
Don’t bother bringing too many pounds, but when you arrive in Paris, go to the nearest ATM machine and use your bank card from England (before you go check with your bank that you can use it in other countries, specifically France) to take out Euro currency, and this is automatically debited from your bank account back home.
Start with €200, this should be plenty to cover all costs, like getting around, buying lunch, small and not too expensive souvenirs, and getting into one or two of the sights. If you need more you can always find one nearby, ask in a restaurant or something. Attempt to speak French. Even if you aren’t very good at it, they do appreciate the effort and are more inclined to help you.
Use the Paris metro system, it’s the best way to get across the city. It seems complicated but it really isn’t. And watch out for pickpockets! They’re a scourge in every city.
