Wherever he went in Dublin he said it was pretty similar. Did they see him coming? I know Guinness can be a bit more expensive than ordinary bitter or lager – but this seems a bit excessive.
Is it because he was right in the centre of town? Is it because it was late in the evening? . . .or is it because tourists get ripped off?
If you are from Dublin, or you visit frequently, can you comment, please?

Hey! Thanks everyone for all the great answers. I would consider a trip to Dublin now after getting the idea from your answers that a pint is between 4.50 and 6 euros.
About 6-7 quid. Depends where.
Some clubs do specials.
eg. QBar do 2.99 drinks on mondays and Fibbers do 3 euro drinks on Thursdays
10-15 euro it so bad they needed to change it its because the pound is the same as the euro its better to be payed in euros you get more money

I texted them seperately and the answer was the same frrom both,around the €5 mark.
E6 max for a pint of Guinness and that’s in the more touristy places, Temple Bar etc.. Im from Dublin and have lived here most of my life. No way on this earth did your friend pay E20 for two pints of Guinness. I know Dublin can be pretty expensive, but that’s just exaggerating. I live beside Christchurch in Central Dublin and its E4.50 a pint in my local. I go drinking in town every weekend, and even to temple bar now and then and as I said E6 max, and even at that, personally, I wouldn’t pay over E5 for a pint, madness
In regards to been ripped off because of being a tourist, I would also doubt this. Every pub under law must display a price list (usually at the front door) so they can’t charge any more than whats on the list, also nearly all pubs in town give receipts so they would have to have been charged the normal regular price, which as I said would even in the most extreme cases not be in excess of E6
I know booze is more expensive in Ireland than the UK….but Guinness isn’t that expensive…lol
The problem is alot of places in the city centre will charge more….

We went to temple bar and got 2 pints of bud and i came to 12euro…that the last time am going in there!!!
Where i live (right next to the airport) a pint would cost you between 4-6 euro….
Your friend is either lying or he was taken, big time. There is NO WAY a pint of guinness is €10, the max I was ever charged for a pint was €6.50, but then again it was after midnight and i was in late bar in Temple bar. Normal pubs that only stay open to near 12 would charge €4.50 – €5.00 a pint. A pub must display a price lists, and they are required to give all customers a receipt. I
the most I was ever charged for a drink was for a glass of wine, in a wine bar, some glasses where nearly €10 a glass, or €13.00 for a cocktail. Needless to say i never went back to those bars,
That is excessive, even for Dublin. Was he in nightclub or a city centre pub? They tend to pull those kinds of stunts.
One reason when I go to Dublin, I buy beer and wine at an off-licence and go and prepare a nice dinner in a friend’s house.
