Edinburgh zoo is always a good bet, especially if you get to see the penguins out for a walk, used to love it as a kid, penguin parade is one of my earliest memories

Check out Russell Brand at the Edinburgh Festival.

Not exactly family entertainment, but entertainment a plenty!

You absolutely must stay at the Scotsman Hotel AT LEAST 1 night. You should visit the Edinburgh Castle, go on a Ghost Tour, and visit the palace that the Queen stays at when she goes there. (I forgot it’s name, but it is at the other end of the street that the Castle is on).

The Zoo, Sealife Centre, Castle … the list is endless. Go to a tourist/local info centre pick up free leaflets tour guides for ideas.
If you go to the Zoo I would advise a whole day don’t forget the pushchair. The Zoo is built on a hill is quite steep in some parts but well worth the effort.
