Namibia is not expensive at all, the exchange rates are as follows but not 100% accurate
1USD=N$7,11
1EURO=N$12,52
1POUND=N$14,56
my keyboard have no pound and euro sign sorry.Namibia is a great country with a lot to offer in everything you want whether is luxury or what. Namibia is not that famous like some other african countries because it was the last country in africa to achieve its independence in 1990, the country is a multi racial as well as cultural nation with a lot of germans influence. In many parts of namibia, you are likely to be approached in afrikaans if you are white even though english is the official language. If you wanna see animals, Etosha national park is worth than the south african kruger national park. However if you are a vegetarian, you might not enjoy your namibia trip cos they call themselves carnivores and a meal is not complete without meat in Namibia.
Hotels and lodges in Namibia offers you what ever you are asking cos the people are very friendly and you are always welcome to try different things in Nam. Never leave Namibia without visiting Swakopmund at the coast, a small city that have germans influence and people there speaks german but don,t worry everyone in Namibia can speak english. you can rent any car you want from benzs for luxury and enjoy namibian good infrastructures, their roads are called roads to nowhere because you can drive freely in Nam. Namibian population is is just 1,8 million making it the least populated country in the world (population density)
I am south african and wanna move there cos i am tired of crimes in south africa. Good luck!!
You are on the right track because Namibia is a jewel of a place. It is not going to be all that easy to do cheap backpacker trips because of the long distances in between tourist sites. Additionally the tourist facilities are more for lodging type of travel.
Don’t get discouraged. . . .the first and best item for your planned trip is a ‘Lonely Planet Guide Book’ which will cost you about $29 USD, however it will pay for it on your first day out there. . . .trust me! If Lonely Planet does not have a Namibia book yet, then get the Southern Africa edition which feature a Namibia section. ISBN 1-74059-223-9 it is a 2003 edition.
