Finding The Right Resort in Lanzarote

March 31st, 2009 — 12:22 pm

Lanzarote is the most easterly of the seven Canary Islands and has been welcoming tourists from across Europe for over forty years.  Consequently accommodation standards on the island are high – with options ranging from top end luxury villas through to small studio apartments.

Apartments in Lanzarote as with the rest of the Canary Islands can be found to suit all budgetary requirements which makes the Canaries a very popular destination.

Puerto del Carmen is the best spot for anyone searching for holiday apartments in Lanzarote.  As the resort boasts the highest concentration of complexes of any destination on the island.  With the bulk concentrated in the New Town area.  Which is clustered around the main beachfront thoroughfare – the Avdenida de las Playas.  Which runs for some 6km right through the heart of the resort and parallel with the main beach – Playa Grande.

The bulk of the best apartment accommodation can today be found in the New Town area – which essentially runs parallel with the main beachfront strip – the Avenida de las Playas.  Whilst the Old Town has become more of a residential zone.

Island authorities estimate that Lanzarote hotels account for around 40% of all tourist beds on the island.  With the highest concentration of these establishments to be found in the south of the island.  In and around Lanzarote´s newest resort of Playa Blanca.  Which is also the gateway to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura.

Here, new four and five star hotels line the seafront, from the beaches at Papagayo in the west through to the lighthouse at Faro de Pechiguera in the east.  All of these have been built in the last ten years – so tourists are able to enjoy modern facilities and amenities at very affordable prices.  With a nights stay starting at around €70 per room oper night in one of Lanzarte´s better four star hotels.

Playa Blanca also boasts the best selection of Lanzarote villas available for holiday rental.  With some of the most attractive properties located in and around the Rubicon Marina development.  Which is emerging as a serious rival to the islands other luxury marina at Puerto Calero back up the south east coastline towards Puerto del Carmen.

One of the many plus points for visitors to Lanzarote is that the island is manageably small.  Measuring around 58km by 34km. So whatever resort is selected sightseeing is easy and manageable.  And car hire in Lanzarote is much cheaper than in many other holiday locations.  With prices starting from as a little as €17 per day.  Whilst petrol currently costs around €0.80 a litre.

For more information about general accommodation and Lanzarote villas visit the Lanzarote guidebook, where you’ll find everything you need to know about this enchanting island.

Playa Del Carmen for Singles

March 31st, 2009 — 12:22 pm

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico is found in the State of Yucatan. It is just one of those unforgettable spots that you can only understand it if you’ve been there. Size doesn’t dictate influence in Colima’s case. It is the third smallest, but plays a big part in Mexico’s GNP. It’s not to big, and it’s not too small. The weather is perfect year round. It’s not too busy and yet has most everything. In short, it’s been a wonderful place to live while the rest of Mexico sells out for tourists. Playa has 1/20th the capacity that Cancun has for tourists for example.

The average temperature is eithty degrees for this state. It gets similar weather to Hawaii due to it being on the same latitude. Really it is the most comfortable weather on the coast, cooler than Acapulco, and less humid than Puerto Vallarta. The party scene in Playa Del Carmen is among the most exciting, the restaurants are great, plenty of beautiful beaches to play on for your children, and the night clubs are hopping, if you go for that.

Most of the visitors to Playa Del Carmen are from Canada. Playa Del Carmen is a land where you can see Canadians and Americans walking hand in hand, like natures best friends. Nicknamed the ‘anti-PV,’ Manzanillo strives for peaceful tranquility, and it shows. You can develop real relationships here as you go to the same neighborhood restuarants and are remembered. You feel like you did your part as they are honestly happy to have you come to their establishment. Many wish Playa Del Carmen would stay a buried treasure. A feeling which is a shared desire of the locals, who, it is reported, have for many years been reluctant to accept federal funds targeted at developing tourism in the area. Playa Del Carmen remains true to it’s roots.

An awesome way to save money with your family is to try the all inclusive resorts and spas. You can check your worries at the door, these places are designed to be havens of peace. All inclusive means all inclusive, even the tips are included, so you don’t have to stress about anything. Go on a affordable Playa Del Carmen Vacation today!

It is one of a kind, it is not overpriced, and it is convenient don’t miss out!

What is a good reason for a return trip UK to Europe to get 6 month visit visa waiver stamped in my passport?

March 29th, 2009 — 11:50 pm
mestressedout asked:

UK Immigration did not stamp a 6 month visitors visa in my passport when I arrived from America 3 weeks ago as I passed through Dublin on the last leg of the flight and they don’t stamp Visas on flights from Ireland.

I spoke with them this week and they said that they can’t do it now, the only way is to fly to another country, (not ireland) and when I fly back in they will stamp it then.

Immigration may suspect that I need the Visa stamped in so that I can get an interview and change my status to something more long term or permanent and are bound to ask me, so

What is a good enough reason for me to do a return trip on the same day to another country should the immigration query this?

Would it be better to go out one day and come back the next day to avoid the suspicion of the immigration.

What is a legitimate reason Why a foreigner (american) would spend 200 pounds to take these steps to ensure their Passport has a 6 month Visa? is this reasonable?

Dublin: How much does beer cost?

March 29th, 2009 — 10:29 pm
Francis Hannaway asked:

A friend of a friend went to Dublin (Ireland) and went into several pubs. He bought two pints of Guinness and was charged €20 – twenty Euros.

Wherever he went in Dublin he said it was pretty similar. Did they see him coming? I know Guinness can be a bit more expensive than ordinary bitter or lager – but this seems a bit excessive.

Is it because he was right in the centre of town? Is it because it was late in the evening? . . .or is it because tourists get ripped off?

If you are from Dublin, or you visit frequently, can you comment, please?

How much have you paid recently for different beer type drinks?
Guaranteed Irish your answer depends on a website that was last updated in 2006!
Hey! Thanks everyone for all the great answers. I would consider a trip to Dublin now after getting the idea from your answers that a pint is between 4.50 and 6 euros.

You Can Get Loans for Wanderlust

March 27th, 2009 — 08:39 pm
Pursuing a career means no time for holidays. It is not easy to go and apply for leave. Unless we have a week of paid leaves coming our way, several people are not eager to put in that leave application without some egging on. However, most of us need a vacation in order to recuperate from the ongoing hustle and bustle of life. Often enough, we may reject the idea of a vacation because we worry that this might be a burden on our budget.

Of course, no vacation comes for free. However, there are many ways in which we can find cheaper prices for everything. Finding a cheap holiday destination should not seem to be an uphill task.

One can always just drive down to the countryside. Or one could check out one’s own city. If you don’t feel like a tourist without sightseeing, it is not necessary that you have to go to Paris or Rome. There are hundreds of less expensive places that you can set out for. Just ensure that you get some research under your belt before you book either your flight or your hotel. If there are great bargains waiting out there, you should not end up paying the full price.

However, if your heart is set on a rather expensive vacation, it might be good to try some holiday loans. These days, with the tourism industry gaining in steam, holiday loans have become quite popular. As people become infused with wanderlust, loan providers have also begun to get excited about the business side.

So whether the preferred destination is the Parthenon or sub-Saharan Africa, there will be many loans to suit you perfectly. Here again, research is a must unless one is willing to avail of more expensive loans. Conduct some amount of looking around and you might just find a loan provider who will give you a great deal despite your below average credit score. The fact that holiday loans are short term makes them so very popular. Documentation needs may be lower, and your credit scores will not matter as much.

One thing that most tourists have to bear in mind, however, is that things can go wrong on even the most perfect day. That is why one must also apply for travel insurance. This would work like a good security in case of an unforeseen medical expense for instance. You would at least get rid of the worries of paying medical bills in an unknown place. And your vacation worries would be passed on to a third party.

Cities In Australia

March 27th, 2009 — 12:37 am

Australian National

For your next vacation, you may be considering a visit to “the land down under,” even though you know very little about the country, save for what you’ve seen in the movie “Crocodile Dundee,” the animals you’ve seen at the zoo, or the delicious “chicken on the barbie” dinner you’ve had at The Outback Steakhouse. Your limited knowledge of Australia shouldn’t worry you, though. Almost everyone who comes to Australia wants to stay indefinitely! The large country attracts tourists with a spirit of adventure who love a little bit of everything, such as sports, shopping, hiking, wildlife, arts and theatre, eating local cuisine, drinking wine, learning about history and lying out on the beach. Once you know a little more about the cities in north or south Australia and eastern or western Australia, you’ll be better equipped for vacation planning.

Queensland Australia is a territory in the southeast corner of Australia that encompasses destinations like Brisbane, Cairns, Port Douglas, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine coast, the Great Barrier Reef and the outback region. The 70 kilometer stretch of Gold Coast City is sometimes called “the theme park capital of Australia,” housing Dreamworld, Movie World, Sea World, WhiteWater World and the Wet N’ Wild Water Park. Additionally, you can hang at Surfers Paradise, visit the behemoth Q1 tower, shop the bohemian markets, visit Australian wineries and eat delicious fresh seafood.

In the welcoming city of Cairns, you can snorkel the Great Barrier Reef, relax on the beach, shop duty-free, hike through lush tropical rainforests, see national parks of Green and Fitzroy Islands, ride on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway or Kuranda Scenic Railway, experience flora and fauna at the Flecker Botanic Gardens, or take a stroll along the Esplanade, which is bordered by cafes and the Coral Sea. In Port Douglas, you can get a great view of the Great Barrier Reef, shop at Macrossan Street and the Sunday Markets in Anzac Park, visit the sugar cane farms of Mossman, or hike through the Daintree Rainforest, where impressive flora and fauna prosper.

While in Australia, you’ll want to see Brisbane, which is the capital of Queensland. Here, you’ll want to catch some local music, since Brisbane was hailed by Billboard as one of the “Top 5 International Music Hotspots” in 2007. If art and culture are your cup o’ tea, then you can also visit The Queensland Museum, The Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), The Queensland Performing Arts Complex, The Brisbane Powerhouse, the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts and the war memorials in Anzac Square.

Sydney is one of the most popular cities in the New South Wales region of Australia. Famous for its recognizable Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, Sydney attracts more than 7.8 million domestic visitors and 2.5 million international visitors each year. In Sydney, you can shop opulent boutiques like Versace, Gucci and Chanel along Castlereagh Street, Oxford Street or Crown Street; or you can find alternative artsy items on Newtown Street and Enmore Street. Big malls and shopping centers make Sydney a consumer epicenter. Additionally, Sydney is a “must” for art-lovers! Some of the biggest attractions are the Australian Museum (natural history and anthropology), the Powerhouse Museum (science, technology and design), the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Australian National Maritime Museum. Depending on the time of year you visit Australia, you may be lucky enough to catch “The Big Day Out” rock festival, the Sydney Film Festival, Australian Idol or the Australian Fashion Week celebrations.

Surfers worldwide know about Manly, Australia. It is a southeast beach environment situated just seven miles from the business district along a particularly wild portion of the ocean. The busy beachside village is home to a host of contemporary restaurants, chic boutiques and delightful cafes, which can be found along a strip known as “The Corso.” Active tourists can check out the Manly Art Gallery and Museum, the Oceanworld aquarium, and the immigrant Quarantine Station, which has great ghost tours, by the way! Snag a drink at Manly Wharf bar, ride a wave at the beach, cruise the harbor to Sydney on the Manly Ferry, or time your vacation for the International Jazz Festival for some added fun. You’ll see that no matter what you do in Australia, there truly are “no worries, mate!”

Hot Holidays On The Island of Fire

March 25th, 2009 — 12:22 pm

Lanzarote is the most easterly link in the Canary Islands chain. And is located around seventy miles off the west coast of Africa – relatively close to what was once, many years ago, the enclave of the Spanish Sahara.

And as you’d expect from an island that is located in such close proximity to the continent of Africa and the Sahara desert, Lanzarote enjoys very little rainfall – with a total precipitation averaging out at just 11 centimetres a year. Whilst temperatures on the island stay at a minimum of 20 Celsius all year round. Climatic factors that combine to make Lanzarote an ideal holiday destination.

As a result of these favourable conditions Lanzarote is hugely popular with tourists from Northern Europe. And the UK is the islands number one market – with around 800,000 British tourists arriving on flights to Lanzarote during the course of 2007. Bolstered by a further 200,000 plus visitors from the Republic of Ireland. Who visit Lanzarote more than any other destination in the whole of Spain.

Lanzarote was once thought to be part of the lost continent of Atlantis. Phoenician traders dubbed it the Purple Island – as a lichen called Orchilla was once grown here, which was used as the basis for a purple dyestuff. In the Middle Ages Lanzarote was referred to as one of the Fortunate Islands – thanks to the spring like year round climate.

Today Lanzarote is best known as the Island of Fire though. Thanks to the fact that around one quarter of the land here was submerged by a sea of molten lava, as Lanzarote was subjected to a terrifying six year long volcanic eruption. Which started in 1730. Driving many islanders to flee and seek new lives abroad.

Ironically the Fire Mountains of the Timanfaya National Park are today Lanzarote´s number one attraction. Drawing around one million visitors every year. Who are enthralled by the eerie moon like appearance of the terrain. Other key attractions include the Jameos del Agua and the Mirador del Rio. Tourist sites which were developed by the island born artist and architect Cesar Manrique.

Thanks to Manrique Lanzarote has a lot more to offer tourists than just water parks and golf courses alone – as is so often the case in other Spanish sunspots. And allied with great year round weather these factors have helped to encourage many visitors to invest in the Lanzarote property market. Enabling them to rent their villa or apartment out to tourists or enjoy it for their own holidays.

For great deals on Lanzarote hotels and Lanzarote property for sale visit the Lanzarote tourist information website.
