How to get a job on a cruise ship?

ivyteasdale asked:

Hello!
I decided to try and get a job on-board a cruise ship. Can anyone recommend a recruitment agency or any ideas how I could proceed?
Some of the website I have been looking on ask for registration fee and I do not like the sound of that.

Definitely do not pay any fees upfront for anything! Alot of the cruise liners recruit directly, so the best way to go about it is simply to research different companies, go their websites and find the careers or about us button. It should lead you to their recruitment page with information or will direct you to whoever they have outsourced their recruitment to.

Go to the job centre and apply for it.

im not sure how…but those jobs are very pleasant. I went on a cruise and i felt bad for the workers because they always had to be extremly happy and it was they were lil peasants and their job was all about making the cruisers happy!

You should go to the cruise lines websites directly and to their employment/Career/Fun Job/About Us sections.

There you will find the minimum requirements for different positions, age and medical info, contract length (6 to 8 month) and information about living conditions etc.
You should definitely not pay up front to register and even when going through an agency you should only pay once they have successfully placed you on a ship, means you have a legit employment letter from the cruise line (also there you need to pay attention, since some scams go as far as issuing fake letters or employment or confirmation)
On most cruise websites you can apply online, with attaching your CV and photo. With others you can enter your past experience and what position you are looking for, and you can get an alert by e-mail when an open position matches your search and experiences.

Just go to the cruise lines web site and look for links regarding jobs or careers.
