In a few months, me and two other people would like to visit Europe. We will probably go to France, Spain, Italy and Switzerland. Is a budget of $160 a day for each of us good enough? We are willing to stay in private rooms in hostels.
I am too excited about it so I am asking now. =)
Thanks.

Well, depending on how much travel you want to do that should be enough. I would get a Railpass that allows unlimited travel within certain countries (like Germany) to save on train expenses. Europe can be VERY expensive if you dont do it right. Staying in hostels is the only thing you can do to really save a good amount of money. Have fun!
Well, you can certainly do it that way, and that much money will be *plenty.*
But you can see Europe and spend a LOT less money if you do things a little differently.
Look up, ‘Couch Surfing’. Save yourself thousands of dollars, meet some awesome people, experience culture beyond the hotel room, and have a fun, safe and positive experience. It’s not for everybody; it helps if you are an out-going, confident person. (My girlfriend is a big-time Aquarius, and took to this way of travel instantly, made a ton of friends and had the time of her life.)
She also wanted to try WWOOFing (Willing Workers On Organic farms), and did a couple of weeks on two different farms. Both very different. The first one was very intense but very positive. The owner and his family fell in love with her and invited her to come back if we ever decide to get married, so he can host the whole thing in the spectacular restaurant they run in town. The other farm was a very small olive and orange farm in Spain, and she still keeps in touch with the women who ran the place.
The trip basically cost air fare plus maybe $1800 for food and travel for a whole two month journey.
But the thing is. . , no matter what you do, you’re going to have a great, great time. The money you spend isn’t that important because it’ll pay for experiences and memories which will do wonderful things for you and last forever. All ways of travel are valid!
Have fun!
That should be enough money if you walk,or ride a bike a lot. Enjoy your trip.
