Cardiff, the capital of Wales, of whom to many of its residents should have been crowned European City of Culture 2008, remains a fantastic destination of choice. No matter what type of person your are, you will always find something to do in Cardiff!.

Whether you are a fan of a fashionable nightlife and street scene or shopping or heritage and culture or the countryside with quaint holiday cottages, Wales and Cardiff are the answer for you.

When we think of Cardiff, we mainly think of a city culture. One third of Cardiff is actually countryside. The countryside terrain ranges from coast to hills to river valley so it is very diverse. You can enjoy out door activities like horse riding and cycling or hiking. Whatever is your fancy. Cardiff also lies at the heart of South Wales and serves as an excellent gateway to much of Wales as a whole.

Cardiff is a very colourful and lively city. There are attraction such as Cardiff bay (considered to be one of the most successful government regeneration projects in the UK), Cardiff castle, national museum Cardiff and of course, The Millenium Stadium and numerous events and exhibitions.

If sports are more your thing, then you are onto a winner with Cardiff which in its list of spectator sports includes, top class rugby, Championship football and the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team.

Even in the city, you can enjoy recreational sports at Cardiff Bay with sailing and canoeing and jet boating activities and of course the town is brimming with spas and beauty treatments if that is your preferred type of holiday.

You can also find many clubs and pubs, theatres and concert venues in Cardiff. Keep an eye out for Greyfriars road and St Mary Street. for well-known and well-attended pub venues like Tiger Tiger and Walkabout.

Cardiff is well-known as one of the best cities for high-street shopping including retail favourites such as Coast, Fat Face and Oasis. Cardiff is unlike many other cities where the shopping districts are not close together e.g. London. You can find great shopping at the Capitol Centre in Cardiff shopping district.


Traverse Cardiff in a smany different ways as possible. Getting from one place to the next in Cardiff isn’t a problem. Cardiff is a city that is easy to traverse by foot. If you don’t want to walk, then you could take in one of the many boat tours or use Cardiffs Waterbus or the Cardiff Bay Road Train.

Altogether, whatever your age, you will always be able to fid ways to entertain yourself in Cardiff.
