Visiting london for the first time. Will spend on a cheap hotel to stay, transportation and sight seeing. How must per day should i expect for the 2 of us and an infant. Also let me know cost cutting options. Ideal number of days to stay in london.
And meals of course… in an average place

Oh dear. quite a difficult one to answer!! I wil try anyway!
You could become a member of YHA (Youth Hostels Association) and stay at multiple locations in London.. the prices vary from £28 onwards.. Don’t know how long you will be staying to look around.
pl check ukstudentlife.com
(most hostels do incl breakfast)
There are multiple day travelcards (passes) available, the cheapest option is oyster card – again depends how often and how far you would travel. Travelling after 9.30 am will be cheaper as it is called off peak travel. Infant travels free everywhere – on bus, tube ferries. If travelling with family, you could take a family and friends railcard (£26 per year valid throughout UK on any rail network) which will give you further discounts upto – 1/3rd off.
For sight seeing there are many free locations where you don’t have to pay like museums, Greenwich Observatory and lots..
for food, we gen look around for any convenient store/ store chain local stores like Tesco Express, Sainsburys Local, Londis etc and get bread and sandwich fillers, vegs, big water bottles -1.5L and pack them for lunch rather than buying sanwich and small water bottles from deli counters!
Just guessing as per how we do it.. (2 adults and a kid).. we would avg of £100 per day – this includes cheap acco, travel, food and occasional spend on paid attractions/site visits.
Hope you enjoy your visit….
About £150-200
3 – 4 days is enough to explore, would suggest £150 daily will provide food and lodging, and transport by London’s brilliant underground system, is reliable and economical
Yiekks! brace yourself, London is very expensive, maybe £100 a day, really not too sure but I am from West London and know that food/attractions cost a lot, please check out prices of anything you fancy before you land here.
Make packed lunches with food from Tesco and other big supermarkets and take water everywhere you go!
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it’s very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online… otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
