How can I keep my Ipod charged if I am going on a 3 month backpacking trip?

abigbrightshiningstar asked:

Sorry if it sounds daft but I am new to all this technology stuff.

I am going backpacking around Australia for a few months and will just be living in a van and tent so won’t have access to a plug or a laptop or anything.

How would I keep my Ipod and mobile phone charged in this situation?
I don’t understand Geoge, to listen to music maybe?!?!?

Do not get me wrong, but if it is true you are going on a 3 month backpacking trip, what the hell do you need and IPod for? Just think about it.

Well, an easy solution would be to buy an inverter for the van, which is something you plug into a cigarette lighter or sometimes even directly to a larger batter (like a car battery) and gives you access to outlets just like a wall outlet at home. Something like this would do the trick: **.node3%7D/product/4951821;jsessionid=HnSUGvGS0JvZIZdJ9goZUQ**.node3?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

I went backpacking round Australia and the ipod was a godsend, esp. at night when fellow campers wanted to party into the night and I wanted to sleep.

Believe it or not, I found loads of places to recharge. On campsites there’s always a laundry room – unplug the washing machine for half an hour. Cafés are pretty good about allowing you to recharge while you drink their coffee, in fact anywhere where there is electricity. Remember to get the apple world traveller adaptor box, but travel light by taking only the plugs you will need, eg Hong Kong if you stop there. By all means get one of those travelling re-chargers, but you may well find you don’t need it.

    Have a great time – I did.

Car charger or outside battery-powered charger.

Phone stores carry phone chargers that plug into the cigarette lighter. Be sure to get the right one for your phone manufacturer.

I imagine car chargers are also available for iPods. Or you could just whistle a lot.
