You don’t have to be confused to realise why people are losing interest in travel insurance. Confused.com recently announced domestic holiday travel insurance sales total a mere 2%. The reason behind all this inactivity is obvious; people want to hold up on their spending as much as possible. According to the article “No holiday this year? Things could be worse!” the chief reason people are not buying travel insurance for their holidays at home is because they don’t see a need for it. The message isn’t getting across to the travel insurance target market that for a relatively small cost, the chance of losing money in the event of holiday cancellation are nil.

Throughout 2008, one insurance company observed 150 claims for holiday cancellation due to illness, jury service and redundancy. There are any number of reasons why a holiday may get cancelled so we need to ensure what precious money we have does not get thrown away on cancellation charges and the loss of a deposit.
