Everyone is worried about swine flu at the moment, especially those amongst us who are especially vulnerable to this virus. According to the article “Swine flu concerns blight holiday plans” the FCO or the Foreign and Commonwealth Office have ruled that travel to Mexico should be cancelled.
What we need to know in this instance is will we get our money back? The short answer is yes if you booked your trip through an ABTA travel agency or have taken out some travel insurance.
Now that the FCO have ruled unnecessary travel to Mexico a risk, your travel insurers will pay out if your trip was scheduled for today or some time very soon. There is a chance that an ABTA provider can provide an alternative to Mexico if you would prefer to have a holiday rather than to cancel one.
As with all information, the secret to receiving the best advice is to check with your travel firm and your insurance company as soon as possible before taking any action.
