I am living in the U.K. and would like to import an Australian VW Camper back to U.K. How do I do this?

Have visited Australia on a number of occasions, I have a friend who lives there who can buy me a good van and arrange shipping. I have never done this before though and wonder if anybody can advise me?

Perhaps you haven’t considered the much less expensive alternative, of buying a campervan that’s already here in UK? Maybe e-bay could prove fruitful, but your best bet if you’re in or near London could be round The Aldwych daily. Aussies, Kiwis, Canucks etc at the end of their touring holiday visits to UK have them on offer at bargain prices, in urgent need to sell. Take an expert adviser however, to avoid clapped-out non-bargains!

We contacted HM customs when we brought our car back from Holland. As for shipping, a lot of container companies Will wait until enough cars are available to fill a container and then ship. This is usually cheapest. We did a Roller from the states which shared with a couple of big yanks (cars not people. Couldn’t do it with people). Apparently, they pack them in at some angle , almost over each other.
