gєmmαα (: asked:
I’m 16 in March 2010. My cousin has just moved out to Australia and said to come visit when i’ve done all my GCSE’s so will be going in the summer. Would i be able to fly on my own?
I’m from the UK so will be about a 22 hr flight?
Thankyou.

I think it depends on the airline you are flying with. I go to school in the uk yet i live overseas. So when i fly home i fly with bmi, and they have restrictions on age and when you can fly on your own. I had to be 14 before i could fly on my own. I am 16 now though. So check with the airline as i think the age limit is different with different airlines.
Depends on the airline. The first time I flew without an adult I was 17. My sister, who is 14, flew to Texas over the fall. They let her, but when they found out she was under 16 they charged an extra $200.
Granted, I’m from America; the rules of UK and Australian airlines may be different. I’d call them ahead of time, but you *should* be okay.
like 5 maybe as long as they have a confirmation that someone will be at the airport to pick up the child
Yes you can, my cousin was like 12 when she flew alone! The flight was from South Africa to The USA, a 20 hour flight!
Check on your airline’s website. All the details will be there.
Yes, Of course you are able to fly on your own as i know because i’ve done it before. However not all airlines provide you with this service. It’s called being an Un-accompanied Minor. This usually ranges between the ages of 5 to about 18. I’d say however as you’re 16 you probably wouldn’t need the extra service. Can you find your way round airports well enough?
- The service is just help in the stopovers and when you arrive. But it is worth considering as i can assure you it won’t be one huge 22hr flight to Australia. You’ll have stopovers in various countries, and possibly connecting flights which is where is sometimes becomes tricky by yourself.
Personally, i’d recommend talking about it with your parents and the airline you are planning with. Good Luck.
