Poorest Skiing In Canada For Years

Canada’s snowy luck finally ran out this year after terrible snowfall figures and poor skiing conditions led some to call it the worst for 10 years. People taking holidays in Canada this year got something of let down.

Canada has a strong repuation for supplying healthy doses of snowfall and quality conditions for those people after some snow fun. Most resorts are house hold names and places like Whistler usually deliver year on year to the masses of skiers and snowboarders who descend on the Rockies each season. However, this season just gone did not delivery quite as much magic as people were expecting.

A freak -30 degrees high pressure period just before the Christmas period left the slopes wanting and the usual low pressure snow drop never really materialised.Any snowfall that did occur was only in the region of 3-4cm and this tended to melt away quite quickly anyway. When interviewing people at the resorts, one man said “it’s been borderline terrible”. He had managed to make it out to Castle the previous week but found that when he arrived the slopes were exposed with zero cover.“I maybe got 4 days of riding out of 14, that’s not good”.  Another visitor said that she decided to ditch the skiing in favour of doing some sightseeing on one of the local company’s polar bear holidays.

The unusually small amounts of snow have caused some people to put the blame on global warming, states that temperatures have been incredibly sporadic and atmospheric pressures all over the place. This argument is however a little undermined by the fantastic season that both Europe and the large amount of the American resorts have just.Bad luck is the general consensus and most people think that next year will be a different story
