    Typically, a 55 litre is the minimum size people use backpacking. 60-65 is average I would say but it depends what kind of volunteering you are doing as you may need to take more clothes if you need to look smart or if you’re going to get dirty/sweaty…

    Remember you can also buy stuff out there so try and take as little as possible.

    50L should be just fine for you, with India you will need longer sleeves and trousers as it is respectful to cover up. You should also take all your toiletries as its not as easy to get some things over there, soap is ok but shampoo etc is harder in some places to find.
    Also dont forget, first aid kit, torch, medicines in canti biotics and a towel!
